Common bed sizes

Do you often wonder what do they mean by “common bed sizes”?   Is there even a size that is ‘common”?  Maybe not sure what size bed you have?  Do you know if a Full Size sheet will fit your Double Bed?
Below is a compilation of bed and bedding sizes.  It has the measurements of different sized beds so that you will be able to find the size that will fit your room or even a mattress that will fit your bed.

Common Bed Sizes

Twin
The smallest of all the mattresses; it’s meant for one person. At 39 x 76 inches it is a compact bed which is often used in guest rooms, however, twin size mattresses are also typically used for children today.
Twin X-Long
Twin mattresses also come in an extra long version that is sometimes shows as Twin XL.  Although it is longer than the standard Twin; the width is the same. These mattresses are typically found most commonly in college dorm rooms. Because of their unusual size - 39 x 80 inches – it is often difficult to find bed linen for these beds.

Full
Also referred to as a Double Bed but at 54 x 75 inches it is barely wide enough for 2 people. It can sleep two and is shorter in length than its larger cousin, the Queen size.

Queen
The Queen is the most popular choice but still is not long enough for taller people. The Queen – at 60 x 80 inches - sleeps two and is both wider and longer than a Full sized mattress.

King
The King – at 78 x 80 inches – is the largest, most luxurious sized mattress. Driven by spacious master bedrooms and interior design, this size mattress is finding a place in more households.  It is a good buying option if the Queen size is too small

Cal-King
The largest mattress – at 72 x 84 inches - the California King mattress is a large luxury size like the King however it is narrower and longer. And yes, it is found most commonly in the State of California.
